Sunshine Coast sailor Jessica Watson says she is on edge as she endures 30-knot winds and a four-metre swell on her solo journey around the world.

The 16-year-old has been sailing in Ella's Pink Lady for 79 days and is preparing to round the notorious Cape Horn on the tip of South America some time this week.

"It's just become daylight again to reveal an angry, grey ocean," she wrote in the most recent diary entry on her website.
